Meta is actively seeking an experienced Electrical and Utilities Engineer to join the Bay Area Facility Engineering team. This role involves providing stewardship for utility systems across Meta’s rapidly growing corporate facilities, technical spaces, and critical infrastructure, totaling 10 million square feet. The selected candidate will be the lead electrical and utilities steward in Facilities Engineering, overseeing electrical infrastructure from the utility point of connection and distribution throughout campuses and buildings. Additionally, they will offer general resilience and reliability oversight of all site utilities and participate as a lead technical SME during design reviews for tenant improvement and other construction projects.
Electrical & Utilities Engineer Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Operations: Manage operations and maintenance of site utilities distribution and building electrical systems.
- Review Designs: Review electrical designs, specifications, construction drawings, and submittals.
- Safety Oversight: Oversee electrical Methods of Procedure, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, and Arc Flash programs throughout the region in coordination with EHS.
- Infrastructure Stewardship: Take stewardship for the operations and maintenance of critical infrastructure supporting sustained building operations, including substations, UPSs, PDUs, generators, switchgear, PV and battery systems.
- Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally in technical and non-technical situations, working with peers in mechanical and control systems engineering disciplines, Laboratory Managers, Facility Managers, and Space Planning.
- Utility Provider Engagement: Represent Bay Area FacOps in communicating electrical utility provider outages, negotiating rate structure changes, and implementing electrical sustainability strategies.
- Metrics and Reporting: Develop key metrics and reporting for system health, power rate analysis, monitoring of actual usage vs projected load, what-if scenario analysis, and reviewing and reconciliation of electricity billing.
- Critical Thinking: Think critically about Meta’s infrastructure in the Bay Area and process complex data sets and workflows into actionable strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 8+ years of relevant experience working for a power utility provider or a company with diverse and sizable power consumption requirements.
- Technical knowledge of MV/LV systems, transmission/distribution/utility connectivity, and emergency/reliability power generation systems.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems and technologies (e.g., solar) and integration with building infrastructure.
- Proven competency in the operation and sustainment of workplace lighting and their control systems.
- Cross-discipline knowledge of critical facility systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety standards.
- Communication, presentation, project management, and reporting experience.
- Demonstrated experience in providing prime customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (Electrical) registration.
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Knowledge and experience in Daintree Lighting systems.
- LEED Accredited Professional or Certified Energy Manager certifications.

Salary Range: $113,000/year to $159,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
